    Influence of Head Teachers’ Quality Supervision Skills on the Implementation of ICT Policy in the Public Primary Schools in Rabai Sub County of Kilifi County

    Information and communication Technology (ICT) has become the principal driver of economy all over the world, and its role in education sector cannot be down-played. Kenyan government inclusive, has invested heavily in ICT to align education with vision 2030.The schools have been mandated through the head teachers’ leadership, to spearhead the implementation of ICT policies in the school. Despite the heavy government’s investments on infrastructure and capacity building, the ICT policy implementation in Rabai Sub County is still dismal raising question on the influence of leadership on ICT implementation. This study investigated the influence head teachers’ quality supervision skills on ICT implementation in public primary schools in Rabai Sub County in Kilifi County -Kenya. This study was anchored on Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene theory by Frederick Herzberg. The study used descriptive survey research design to gather qualitative and quantitative data which was analyzed to describe systematically the situation of ICT implementation in Rabai Sub County in Kilifi County- Kenya. The target population was 44 public primary schools and Census technique was used. 88 respondents were obtained using purposive sampling where all 44 head teachers and 44 ICT champion teachers were sampled. The researcher used interview schedule for the head teachers and closed ended questionnaires for the ICT champion teachers. The qualitative data from the head teachers was organized and coded according to themes and the Likert Scale of 1-5 was used to measure the respondents’ level of agreement on the questionnaires. The responses from both tools was organized according to the objectives and presented qualitatively and quantitatively. Pre-testing was done in Kaloleni Sub County whereby a reliability coefficient of above 0.07 and 0.05% level of significance was achieved and it was considered reliable. The validity of the instrument was determined through consultations with specialists in the study area. The data was collected after obtaining a letter of authority from Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI), Kilifi County Commissioner Office, Kilifi County Education Office and RabaiSubcounty Education Office. The data collected was analyzed using Descriptive Statistics using Statistics Package for Social Scientist (SPSS) program and final results displayed using percentages, and graphs. The study found out that the quality supervision skill of the head teachers ’was deficient, mean moderate of 3.5085 and the std 1.144732. From the responses of the respondents, the researcher concluded that there was a strong correlation between effective leadership in terms of quality supervision and implementation of ICT policy in the public primary schools. Capacity building on these core leadership skills to empower head teachers is recommended.

    Influence of Strategic Innovation on Corporate Reputation Management in Microfinance Institutions (MFI’S) In Machakos County

    The objective of this research was to investigate the influence of product innovation on corporate reputation management in Machakos County microfinance institutions. This is important in order to understand and evaluate strategic innovation which can be understood as reinventing or redesigning an organization’s corporate strategy in order to promote company growth, provide value for the customer and the company, and achieve a competitive advantage. .n order to achieve the study's purpose, the descriptive sampling technique has been used in a research study. Population target of the study comprised of all the Microfinance Institutions (MFI’s) licensed by the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya (AMFI-K) as at 31st December 2019. There are (15) fifteen licensed MFI’s by AMFI- K. All the selected MFI’s were included in the study with the respondents being all the selected Branch managers, team leaders and operations officers. The total respondents therefore were forty-five (45). The main methodologies were questionnaires, which were self-administered by the researcher and yielded an 82.2 per cent response rate. The research showed that product innovation and corporate reputation management had a good and significant association. The study also indicated that process innovation and corporate reputation management had a favorable and substantial (P-Value=0.000) association. Furthermore, the findings demonstrated that market innovation and corporate reputation management had a favorable and substantial (P-Value=0.000) link. Finally, resource innovation and corporate reputation management had a favorable and substantial (P- Value=0.000) association. The study therefore concluded that Product Innovation, Process Innovation, Market Innovation, and Resource Innovation all have a positive and significant impact on company reputation management based on the findings. This study recommended the need to improve on marketing innovation strategies for marketing officers of the MFI’s and to ensure that a product innovative approaches are implemented

    Influence of Teachers’ Classroom Management Practices On Pupils’ Academic Performance In Public Primary Schools in Matuga Sub - County, Kwale County, Kenya

    Pupil’s Performance/ achievement that is academic in nature is as a result of education – the level at which a pupil has attained their educational targets. The academic performance of pupils in Matuga Sub-County has been poor for decades now. This study sought to assess the influence of teachers’ classroom management practices on pupils’ academic performance in public primary schools in the Sub-County. The objectives of the study were; to establish the influence of teachers’ classroom discipline management on pupils’ academic performance. The study was carried out using a descriptive survey design. The target population included 98 head teachers and 691 teachers. The sample size included 10 percent of the head teachers’ target population of 98 and 10 percent of the 691 target population of teachers. The researcher had a sample size of 79 subjects for the study (10 head teachers and 69 teachers). Data was collected using Questionnaires which were issued to the respondents. The questionnaire was research assisted. The researcher also used observation check list to investigate on existing practices on Teachers’ classroom discipline management. Test-retest was done to 8 respondents (1 head teacher and 7 teachers) from Matuga Sub-County to check the suitability or the validity of the instrument. The data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. The quantitative data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics which included percentages, frequency counts and inferences. The qualitative data obtained from the checklist was analyzed and discussed thematically. The results of data analysis were presented using frequency distribution tables and bar graphs. Study findings revealed a strong positive correlation between DM,TIM,IM and CTM, and dependent variable AP with p values as follows; (rs = .758, p = .000), (rs = .532, p = .000), (rs = .893, p = .000) and (rs = .857, p = .000) respectively which were statistically significant since the p-values are less than 0.01. The study revealed that, teachers’ classroom management practices influencing pupils’ academic performance include lack of; guidance and counselling techniques, enough skills to monitor pupils learning, follow up by headteachers on teachers, commitment to apply instructional management and proper time management by tutors. Recommendations include; Teachers to undertake in-service guidance and counseling programme, Teachers be inducted on better ways of monitoring Pupils learning and head teachers should follow up on teachers. There be organized regular capacity building seminars/workshops on teaching methodologies and the syllabi/curriculum designs be divided into the three terms of the year to ensure uniform coverage. The study also recommended areas for further study like; influence of Teachers Classroom Instructional Monitoring on Pupils’ Academic Performance and need of similar study be carried in other Counties in coast region to ascertain if comparable findings would be acquired for further generalization of outcomes

    Influence of Strategic Thinking on Strategy Implementation in Kilifi County Government

    The fundamental driver of strategy implementation is strategic thinking. The leader's part is vital in determining the strategy execution procedure because it is doable schedule and conclusions about the way it can be fast or hard to drive for change is critical. The focus of the research was on the influence of strategic thinking on strategy execution in Kilifi County. Path-Goal Leadership theory was used in this research. To explain the existing situation and collect data across a number of units, the research utilized a descriptive survey approach. The targeted population was 61 Kilifi County Government officers (11 members of the County Executive Committee, 22 chief officers, and 28 departmental directors). The study used census sample approach, which included all 61 respondents. A questionnaire with closed-ended questions was used to collect data for this study. To ensure the validity of the research instruments, the researcher conducted a pilot study with six Lamu County government officials. Data was examined and analyzed using a Software (SPSS) Version 24.0 through descriptive and inferential statistics. Frequencies, percentages, and cross tabulations was used for presenting the findings. The use of a regression model to determine the type of the link among research variables was included in inferential statistics. It was determined that strategic thinking provided an adequate explanation for how strategies were carried out. Findings revealed that strategic thinking was a reliable indicator of successful strategy execution. Based on the findings, the study concluded that Strategic thinking have a positive and vital effect on strategy execution in Kilifi county government. This study found that strategic thinking managers and leaders in Kilifi County Government who have the ability to develop an in-depth analysis have influenced strategic implementation in Kilifi county government. This study therefore recommended that strategic thinking managers and leaders within the county should time to time monitor and evaluate the progress of already implemented projects

    Influence of organizational factors on implementation of strategic plans among independent regulatory parastatals in kenya

    The study set out to examine the factors influencing implementation of strategic plans of selected Kenyan parastatals. The study specific objectives were to examine the effect of resources, top management commitment, business dynamics and communication on implementation of strategic plan of selected Kenyan parastatals. Implementation of strategic plans in parastatals involves use of resources both financial and staff in the existing business environment to remain relevant and competitive. To deal with the unprecedented level of change, sufficient preparation is necessary for successful implementation of strategic plan. Despite a lot of efforts and resources being channeled into implementation of strategic plans in parastatals face imminent failure. This implies that, implementation of strategic plan still remains a challenge for parastatals in Kenya. To implement strategic plans in parastatals, allocate sufficient human, financial and other resources such as equipment and IT support to each step of the action plan. Assigning adequate resources shows that the parastatal‟s leadership is serious about the plan and helped motivate employees to accomplish their assigned tasks. To strengthen the conceptual framework the study adopted the following theories; dynamic capability view theory, human capital theory, general systems theory and management theory. The target population was 2,238 employees at industry regulators consisting of top managers and middle level managers. The sample size was 339. A pilot study was carried out to refine the instrument. The quality and consistency of data was further assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Data analysis was through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Version 23) for Windows. Descriptive analysis was done using frequency counts, percentages, means and standard deviation, regression, inferential statistics, correlation and the information generated was presented in form of graphs, charts and tables. On resources, the study findings established that independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya allocate sufficient financial resources, manpower and time to enable successful implementation of strategic plans in Kenya. On top management commitment, the study results showed that they are committed in implementation of strategic plans of independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya. On business dynamics, the study results revealed that parastatal prefer to implement strategic plans during economic boom. Frequent changes in top management in parastatals affect implementation of strategic plans. Changes in technology affects implementation of strategic plan in parastatals. On communication, the study results revealed that employees are full involved in the implementation of strategic plan of independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya. The study Pearson correlation demonstrates that there is a positive correlation between the independent variable‟s and the dependent variable implementation of strategic plan in independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya. In answering the research question as to whether resources, top management commitment, business dynamics and communication have an effect of implementation of strategic plans in independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya, the study findings established that resource affects implementation of strategic plans in independent regulatory parastatals in Kenya.
