    The Effect of Knowledge Acquisition on Organizational Performance of Selected Humanitarian Organizations in Marsabit County Kenya.

    The potential for employing knowledge acquisition to enhance organizational performance is expanding exponentially, especially during a time of rapid technological progress. Knowledge acquisition can play a critical role in both preventing humanitarian disasters and building capacities for better disaster response. Additionally, it can improve coordination and communication in emergencies. This study aimed to assess the effect of knowledge acquisition strategies on the performance of selected humanitarian organizations in Marsabit County, Kenya. The study drew on Knowledge-Based View Theory. A descriptive research design was used, and the target population consisted of 386 employees working in the selected humanitarian organizations in Marsabit County. The participant pool, consisting of 112 respondents, was established utilizing the Yamane formula. Direct data was gathered via questionnaires, implemented through the drop-off/pickup technique to engage with the respondents. Utilized methodologies encompassed descriptive statistics, featuring average and standard deviation, and inferential statistical techniques like correlation analysis and multiple linear regression. The outcomes are illustrated via a variety of tables and visual diagrams, followed by a comprehensive interpretation of the findings. The study concludes that knowledge acquisition impacted the performance of humanitarian organizations in Marsabit County. The study recommends that humanitarian organizations engage with technical experts in specific fields for knowledge acquisition and value their employees.

    Influence of Cross-Border Public Participation Strategies on Performance of Revenue Collection in Moyale Sub-County Border Point

    This research study aimed at investigating the influence of public participation strategies on performance of revenue collection in Moyale sub-county border point. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The target population for this study was 384 divided into three strata, 200 revenue clerks, 70 senior revenue officer and 114 border business community. The sample size for this study was 196 using Yamane's formula. According to Yamane’s formula, a target population of 384 was used with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error. Stratified random sampling was used and the participants were selected randomly from each stratum. Data was collected using designing structured questionnaire. The data collection procedures for this study involved, identifying and contacting the relevant county revenue collection agencies and stakeholders in Moyale Sub-County and obtaining permission and clearance to conduct the study from the relevant authorities. A quantitative assessment was conducted using both descriptive and inferential methods of analysis. To facilitate data description and presentation through means, tables. The study employed the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Karl Pearson's correlation coefficient was used in this research to gauge the degree of association between the variables. The research results revealed a meaningful and positive correlation between public participation (r = 0.893, p < 0.05) with the efficacy of revenue collection in the Moyale sub-county's permeable border area. The study recommended that the sub-county need to improve on involvement of national government officials and in making revenue collection policy and collaboration of potential donors in strategizing on revenue collection.

    Effect of Employee Engagement on the Operational Efficiency of Water Service Providers in Meru County, Kenya

    Operation efficiency is critical for the smooth running and sustainability of water utilities. Employee engagement is integral to the operational efficiency of non-profit organizations in Kenya, including water service sector. Studies show that when the employees are appropriately engaged, managed and monitored, the organizations will avoid unnecessary losses and costs, achieving operational efficiency. This research scrutinized the effect of employee engagement on the operational efficiency of water service providers in Meru County. The objectives analyzed the variables of delegation, consultation and unions and their influence on the operational efficiency of Water Service Providers in Meru County. The study was anchored on three theories: Classical scientific, AMO, and social exchange theories. The Research was conducted on two water service providers: Imetha Water and Sanitation Company Limited and; Meru Water and Sewerage Services. The target population was 200 employees involving the corporate management team, middle management, and operative employees. The researcher selected 132 sample respondents from the population for the study. The researcher adopted an expository research design approach. Data was gathered using questionnaires. Content validity was used in the study, and Cronbach's Alpha was employed to measure the reliability of the research instruments. KMO and Bartlett Tests were carried out to test the validity of the research instruments. Data collected was analysed and evaluated using SPSS (Version. 21) and presented in charts, tables, and graphs. The variables of the influence of employee engagement were correlated against the operational efficiency of water service providers using the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The study hypothesis was tested using a two-tailed normal distribution test at a 5% significance level. The results indicated a P value was 0.000 (P< 0.05) implying that employee engagement had a significant effect on operation efficiency of water service providers in Meru County. The study recommended that the WSPs adopt employee engagement strategies improve their operational efficiency for sustainability purposes.

    Effect of Credit Awareness on the Performance of Micro and Small Enterprises in Isiolo County

    The limited access to informal and formal credit by entrepreneurs has been identified as a major constraint to growth of micro and small enterprises in Isiolo County. The County is also characterized by high level of unemployment, particularly among the youths, nomadic life and low educational levels and all these can be attributed to limited access to credit. The study sought to establish the influence of credit awareness on performance of micro and small enterprises in Isiolo North Sub-County. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The unit of analysis was 120 micro and small enterprises within Isiolo Town. The unit of observation was owners or managers of the businesses. Data was collected through structured questionnaires. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that credit awareness had a positive and significant effect on performance of micro and small enterprises. The study concluded credit awareness significantly contributed to the performance of micro and small enterprises. The study recommended the need for financial institutions to strengthen aspects related credit awareness. They should specifically enhance visit to business premises by credit officers, organize seminars and provide timely and accurate information about credit micro and small enterprises’ owners.
