    Influence of Strategic Direction on Organizational Performance of Public Corporations in Kenya. A Case Study of Agricultural Finance Corporation

    This study examined the influence of strategic direction on the organizational performance of public corporations in Kenya, focusing specifically on the Agricultural Finance Corporation. The study was grounded in Contingency Theory. A descriptive research design was employed, with data collected from a sample of 204 employees across various management levels at AFC. The study also adopted simple random method. Primary data were gathered through standardized questionnaires, while secondary data on organizational performance were sourced from AFC’s financial reports and other relevant publications. Data analysis involved the use of descriptive and inferential statistics, including mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis, facilitated by SPSS version 29. It was found that a well-defined strategic direction, when effectively communicated and aligned with the organization’s operations, led to improved financial performance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Based on these findings, the study recommended several strategies for improving the performance of public corporations like AFC. It was recommended that AFC’s leadership enhance strategic communication to ensure that all employees are aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, and goals.

    The effect of building trust strategies on the performance of community-based peace building projects initiatives by non-profit making organizations in northern Kenya.

    This research examined the effect of building trust strategies on the performance of community-based peace building projects initiative in Northern Kenya. The main anchorage theory was Stakeholder Theory. The study adopted descriptive research design. Research population was all NGOs involved in peace building initiative in Kenya. The target population of interest comprised of 44 NGOs that are involved in peace building in Northern Kenya. Two representatives (Reconciliation Program Officer and Community Outreach Officer) from each of the 44 NGOs were involved in the research. There were 44 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Northern Kenya, and the research used a purposive sampling approach to pick one Reconciliation Program Officer and one Community Outreach Officer from each of the NGOs. This gave a population of 88 respondents. In data collection, structured questionnaire were used to gather primary data. The data was analyzed quantitatively by use of descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentage ratings, mean and standard deviation. The study adopted inferential analysis to correlation and regression values showing the relationship of variables. Findings were presented by use of statistical Table. The data indicated a significant correlation between building trust strategies and performance of community-based peace building projects with (r=0.520; p-value =0.000). In conclusion, the performance of community-based peace building projects organized by non-profit groups in Northern Kenya was significantly impacted by trust-building tactics. The findings suggested that when supporting community-based peace building project initiatives in Northern Kenya, non-profit-making organizations (NGOs) have encountered considerable difficulties in fostering trust. Many localities in the area lack the institutional frameworks, expertise, and skills needed to maintain peace initiatives.

    Effects of Top Management Commitment on Performance of Supply Chain Functions in Turkana County Government

    This study investigated the effects of top management commitment on the performance of supply chain functions in Turkana County. A descriptive research design was used for this study, with quantitative data being collected. The target population consisted of 137 respondents, including 10 Chief Officers, 18 County Public Service Board members, 41 County Executive Committee members, and 52 Directors in Turkana County Government offices. The sample size for this study was 102 respondents, and a structured questionnaire was developed and administered to the relevant departmental heads within the supply chain functions of the Turkana County Government. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations were used to describe the data collected from the survey, while inferential statistics such as regression analysis and correlation analysis were used to test the hypotheses. Tables, graphs, and charts were used to present the data, enhancing clarity and ease of understanding. The findings of the study were presented in a comprehensive report. The study's hypotheses were examined by utilizing Pearson's Correlation Coefficient to determine the importance of the connections between the dependent and independent variables. The findings indicated a substantial and positive correlation between top management commitment and the effectiveness of supply chain operations in Turkana County. The study recommended that the county government should prioritize top management commitment to supply chain functions.

    Influence of Strategic Leadership on the Performance of Hospitality Companies in Maputo Province, Mozambique

    The drivers of strategy implementation are crucial for achieving strategic goals. The study aims to identify critical elements that contribute to enhanced performance in the Hotel industry. It examines the influence of strategic leadership on the performance of hospitality companies in Maputo Province, Mozambique, focusing on key elements that enhance hotel performance. The study, grounded in Strategic Leadership theory, utilized a descriptive survey research design. Data were collected from 10 hotels, with participants including 10 Chief Executive Officers, 10 relationship managers, 10 operations managers, 10 IT managers, and 10 strategic leaders. A total of 50 respondents were selected through simple random sampling method, and they responded to both limited-choice and open-ended questions. To ensure the validity of the research, a pre-test was conducted at Vip Grand Hotel Maputo, with one relationship manager and two IT staff. The findings were illustrated using descriptive statistics, frequency charts, and detailed explanations, while inferential statistics were analyzed through multiple regression and correlation analysis. Results indicated that strategic leadership significantly influences the performance of hospitality companies. A correlation coefficient of 0.089 was found between strategic leadership and performance, with statistical significance at a p-value of 0.05. Participants highlighted the importance of effective leadership, emphasizing that senior management must cultivate behaviors and practices that drive performance. The study concluded that effective leadership is essential for achieving customer satisfaction, profitability, market share, operational efficiency, informed decision-making, and resource management. As a result, the study recommends that hotel CEOs prioritize a culture of creativity and innovation. This can be accomplished by encouraging employees to share ideas, experiment with new approaches, and continuously improve processes, thereby enhancing overall hotel performance.

    Influence of Community Policing Strategy on Service Delivery in National Police Service in Nairobi County, Kenya

    The research examined the influence of Community Policing (CP) on service delivery in the National Police Service (NPS) in Nairobi County. The research was supported by stakeholder theory. The study adopted a quantitative research design with the target population being fourteen (14) police stations in Nairobi County having a total number of 3000 police officers attached to them. The sample size was 143 police officers. Stratified random sampling was adopted to pick the unit of observation. Data was sourced using structured questionnaires and analysed based on the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The regression model showed that the influence of CP on service delivery in NPS in Nairobi County was positive and significant (β 1 = .593, t= 10.13, p=.000<.05). The study concluded that CP strategy had a major influence on service delivery in NPS in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study suggests that the inspector General of NPS to ensure that all police stations in Nairobi County and Kenya as a whole have service charters legible to members of the public to ensure that police service is held accountable as regards service delivery. Further, the police service ought to train its workforce on community policing as a philosophy and a strategy for enhancing service delivery

    Influence of Corporate Branding Strategy on Service Delivery in National Police Service in Nairobi County

    The research examined the influence of corporate branding strategy on service delivery in the National Police Service in Nairobi County. The research was supported by Aarkers Brand Equity Theory. The study adopted a quantitative research design with the target population being fourteen (14) police stations in Nairobi County having a total number of 3000 police officers attached to them. The sample size was 143 police officers. Stratified random sampling was adopted to pick the unit of observation. Data was sourced using structured questionnaires and analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The regression model showed that the influence of CP on service delivery in NPS in Nairobi County was positive and significant (β 1 = .598, t= 8.52, p=.000<.05). The study concluded that corporate branding strategy had a major influence on service delivery in NPS in Nairobi County, Kenya. to continue implementing branding activities at the NPS to improve its image.

    Effect of Achievement Culture on the Performance of Universities in Kenya

    The recent increase in competition and insufficient government financing, as well as the government's increased focus on technical, vocational education training, have had a significant negative impact on higher education's service delivery and performance. This study set out to find out how Kenyan universities perform in relation to their adoption of an accomplishment culture. The study used a descriptive research approach, and its target population included 444 senior university employees from all 74 accredited universities in Kenya. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The relationship between achievement culture and universities’ performance was significant. Vision, missions, goals, core values, and philosophies significantly affected public universities’ performance. Therefore, universities adopted realistic and achievable strategic statements and communicated adequately among staff. The study recommends that managers must support the achievement culture to accomplish the goals set by an organization successfully. Therefore, employees need to be supported by managers by all means alongside training needs and learning opportunities, creativity, and innovation.

    Analysis of Adhocracy Culture Implementation Approach and Performance of Universities in Kenya

    The recent increase in competition and insufficient government financing, as well as the government's increased focus on technical, vocational education training, have had a significant negative impact on higher education's service delivery and performance. The study sought to determine the effect of role culture implementation approach on university performance in Kenya. The study used a descriptive research approach, and its target population included 444 senior university employees from all 74 accredited universities in Kenya. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Adhocracy culture insignificantly influenced universities’ performance by -13.3% (R square value of -0.133). The correlation value of (r=-.097, p<0.05) showed the negative relationship between adhocracy culture and universities’ performance. The chi-square value of χ2 (5) = 0.038, p=0.049 proved there was an insignificant relationship between adhocracy culture and universities’ performance. Adhocracy culture was insignificantly associated with placement and research output performance, university ranking, student placement by KUCCPS, and graduation rate. Organization managers must have a good understanding of the adhocracy culture that exists in universities and the impact it generates on typical performance. This is very important while making imperative decisions.

    Effect of Role Culture Implementation Approach on Universities Performance in Kenya

    The recent increase in competition and insufficient government financing, as well as the government's increased focus on technical, vocational education training, have had a significant negative impact on higher education's service delivery and performance. The study sought to determine the effect of role culture implementation approach on university performance in Kenya. The study used a descriptive research approach, and its target population included 444 senior university employees from all 74 accredited universities in Kenya. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study discovered that role culture was significant to performance of universities. The R square value of 0.184 proved that role culture affected the performance of universities by 18.4%. The correlation value of (r=0.321, p<0.05) showed the relationship between role culture and universities’ performance was positive and significant. The chi-square value of χ2 (5) = 12.222, p=0.027 further established a significant relationship between role culture and universities’ performance. Role culture was significantly associated with research output, student placement by KUCCPS, and graduation rate. Organization managers must have a good understanding of the cultures that exist in universities and the impact it generates on typical performance. At the managerial level, the management should not only pay attention to the results but also consider the needs of the staff for positive outcomes.
