    Influence of Strategy Implementation On Performance of Public Health Facilities In Kericho County

    Abstract
    Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda underscore healthcare delivery and the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as national development priorities. Central to these ambitions is effective strategy implementation in the public health sector, encompassing Human Resource Capacity Development Strategies, Change Management Practices, IT Communication Systems Implementation and Service Quality Enhancement Strategies. In Kericho County, public health facilities continue to experience performance challenges despite various strategic interventions, raising concerns about the effectiveness of their implementation. This study investigated the influence of strategy implementation on the performance of public health facilities in Kericho County. A mixed-methods research design was adopted, targeting 300 respondents from public hospitals, health centres, and dispensaries under the UHC framework. Stratified random sampling yielded a final sample size of 171. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 27, employing both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Findings revealed that all four dimensions of strategy implementation had a statistically significant effect on performance (p < 0.05). Human Resource Capacity Development Strategies and IT Communication Systems Implementation emerged as the most influential factors, while Change Management Practices, and Service Quality Enhancement Strategies also played meaningful roles. The study concludes that the performance of public health facilities is strongly shaped by the quality of strategy implementation and recommends investment in staff development, improvement of IT infrastructure, and institutionalization of structured change management practices. Strengthening these strategies is critical for enhancing healthcare outcomes and accelerating the realization of UHC in Kericho County and beyond. Further research is recommended to assess long-term effects of strategy implementation and to compare outcomes across different counties and healthcare sectors.
