dc.description.abstractPerformance contracting has been widely adopted in Kenya public sector as a key strategy to enhance a culture of accountability for results, and efficiency in service delivery, tracking progress towards target achievements as well as linking rewards and sanctions on performance. Effective performance contracting among Public Health Officers is paramount to achieving national health goals on disease prevention and control, sustainable development goal number six and overall improvement of the population health. This study aimed at investigating factors influencing performance contracting among Public Health Officers working in Nyeri County, Kenya. Performance Contracts as a management tool has been used in the Kenyan health sector since year 2012. Despite this there have been noted declining health indicators in the county.en_US
